Predictable and Secure Native Nanoprocesses

Authors: Sean McBride, Emil Abbasov, Gabe Parmer

Abstract:

The aWsm compiler toolchain eliminates the typical just-in-time compilation overhead of WebAssembly execution from the Nanoprocess reference architecture. WebAssembly modules are compiled to native code and linked with a runtime tailored to the capabilities of the host, enabling greater density and scalability from microcontrollers to mainframes. Our flagship runtime is SLEdge, which targets serverless execution on resource-constrained edge devices and implements a suite of scheduling policies aimed to minimize tail latency.
